Pre Event Beauty Prep

The day is coming. The day you may have dreamed of from the moment you realized you were in love. Now you are engaged and planning one of the most important days in your life. You have imagined how beautiful..or handsome, you will look as you walk down the aisle towards the love of your life. All eyes are on you and you..are..RADIANT! Only problem, all this planning has taken its toll on your skin. Well here are a few tips and tricks to prepare for the big day and realizing your radiant dream.

So, your six months out...now is the time to start thinking about more than if you should have a signature cocktail at your reception, or if you should sit your boss next to your aunt who likes to tell awkward stories about your teen years. Now is also a crucial time to start thinking about your beauty routine.

Things like TEETH WHITENING ...

If you want those pearly whites to be well...pearly white, then now is the time to start working on your smile. Whitening tooth paste is easy enough to find these days , but perhaps you're considering professional whitening for a quicker and brighter affect. This is a surefire way to get a gorgeous smile, but remember not to go overboard and get them too unnaturaly white. plan your last whitening about 4 months from the wedding day. by the time the big day rolls around, your ivories will be photo perfection!      BROWS...

BROWS...

You know those two impossible things above your eyes, otherwise known as eyebrows. Now is the time to think about going to a pro if you don't already. 6 months out allows your brow expert to help you with achieving the most flattering shape and maintaining them up to the wedding day. This also gives you enough time to recover if you have a... not so spectacular result. I really R ecommend doing some research. there are a lot of people who shape brows, make sure that you look into who has the best reviews both from friends and on line. You might pay more, but with much less of a risk. I would also recommend that if you are currently on antibiotics or any skin treatment medications recently ( both internal as well as external),  seriously consider getting your facial hair threaded, rather than waxed for less chance of irritation and redness and quicker recovery time as well.       FACIALS...

FACIALS...

Now with facials, you can start anytime, no time is soon enough to get that skin in shape. however there is a time to stay away from a facial and that is the week or so prior to the main event. If you have ever had a facial, you know that often that wonderful cleaning and steaming of your pores can bring those impurities to the surface. The LAST thing you want before your big day is pimples or a rash. It might be a tempting way to relax with your bridesmaids the day before, but opt for a massage or mani/pedi instead. Your Makeup artist will thank you.       HYDRATE...

HYDRATE...

Yes of course hydrate your skin topically . Even oily skin needs moisturizer every day, but don't forget to hydrate your body as well. Not only does it help you lose weight, it cleanses your body by helping your kidneys function better as well as digestion. It also works to eliminate headaches and fatigue that the stress of planning a wedding can bring on. And since we are talking about skin... drinking those 8 to 10 glasses of water a day will lead to more even skin tone and texture, that's both clearer and more plump. glowing with health and vibrancy! LASHES...

Thinking about getting extensions or just day of falsies? Either are great options and I highly recommend giving those eyes a boost with some added plumage. Especially if you dont like to wear a ton of eyeshadow and really want your eyes to pop in person as well as in photos. That said either option should probably be tried before the day of the event. Semi permanent lash extensions are a great option, especially since they dont require mascara to make them look dark and lush. They will hold up during the ceremony as the tears fall, as well as the honeymoon when you are swimming in The bahamas and dont want to wear makeup, but still want to look good. Like with your eyebrows...research! Make sure you go to someone that you have, or can, see their work. These are not inexpensive and can, if applied incorrectly, cause minor to severe eye and skin irritation as well as lash loss. as in ...YOUR own lashes!!!  make sure to look for a national brand that certifies their lash technicians. Then you can find those techs in your area.   Now the less worriesome and easy option is one day wear false lashes. you can ask your artist to apply individuals(which consist of small bunches of natural hair that gets glued to the bed (the skin just above where your own grow) these can be applied to create any look you want. from natural and wispy, to lush , spikey and tapered. That's up to you. Then there are the standard strip lashes. An easy and long tested option that, if applied right, never lets you down.        TANNING ...

TANNING...

There is of course the natural option of laying out by the pool and risking sun damage and burn. Then there are tanning beds, all the drawbacks and none of the fun of laying waterside. So consider Spray tanning. Spray tans have come a long way and can be adjusted to work with your complexion. If you're willing to splurge, you can even have someone spray you in the comfort of your own home. If you choose the option to spray tan, make sure to do it a few days before, so that you are able to shower and spot check for any areas that may need touched up or were missed. So now we are a few days away from the big day. time to reduce if not eliminate caffeine. I know you need your Venti Americano , but your skin, does not. Also avoid salty, sugary, carb laden foods. As soon as the ceremony is over you can slam back as much bread, cake and coffee as you like. that 2 to 3 day break from them will be worth it! BONUS TIPS - A great way to tighten up your pores before your makeup artist starts working her magic, is by dunking your clean face in a bowl of ice cold water. gets the blood flowing and reduces the apperance of pores.   Blemish? it you dont have a zit zapper on hand, try toothpaste as soon as you see it start to come in. this helps draw it out, and you can use lemon to dry it out. If its there and you just need to calm the redness and imflammation, pop an advil gel cap with a needle and apply gel directly to blemish. let it sit a few moments, works really quick! Then wipe away excess before makeup. Destination wedding? Make sure to pack ALL the items you regularly use for your skin. Even if you think, your skin looks great right now and you dont need that heavy night cream or exfoliater. Just pack it! You will be glad you did, if some issue does arise.   Now....GO GET MARRIED!
